550 kms, 10 days of riding, over 9,000 meters in elevation gain, 2 Himalayan Passes as high as 4551 meters
above sea level, thousand year old monasteries, prayer flags, a high altitude lake which goes by the
name of “Chandratal”, meaning “Lake of the Moon”, this ride sure is through moonscape.
HASTPA proudly presents the second edition of the trans-himalayan mountain biking challenge, MTB Spiti 2014. You don’t just race through some of toughest terrain known to man, but you also pedal across a land that time has forgotten.
Loosely translated, ’Spiti’ means the ‘middle country’ –a name obviously given as a result of its location and traditional ties with both India and Tibet. Fed by several fast-flowing streams, the river Spiti flows through the area and joins with the other large river of the region, the Satluj, at Khab.
